Thank you for registering for Sailing School. We look forward to welcoming your student to an unforgettable experience on beautiful Grand Lake.
Schedule:
Week One: June 24- 27. Family BBQ 6 pm on the 27th
Week Two: July 1-(no session on 7/4)-July 5. Family BBQ 6 pm on the 5th
Week Three: July 8-11. Family BBQ 6 pm on the 11th
Week Four: July 15-18. Family BBQ 6 pm on the 18th
Week Five: July 22-25. Family BBQ 6 pm on the 25th
Please arrive at the Grand Lake Yacht Club at 9:30 am for check-in and the swim test on your first day of Sailing School. Every other day, including additional Mondays if you are doing multiple weeks, arrive at 10:00 am. Check-in is by the front gate. Students will participate in a short swim test between the docks in front of the Yacht Club. Life jackets and shoes are required for the swim test. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch. While students are drying off and changing parents are invited to a brief welcome meeting in the pavilion with Sailing School Director, Sean Waters.
The day will be divided between lessons and drills on land and water.
A lunch break will occur sometime mid-day depending on the schedule and weather conditions. Students may bring a sack lunch or money to buy lunch at Miyauchi’s (nearby snack bar).
Sailing day concludes at 4 pm
On the last day of the week please join us at the Yacht Club for a celebratory BBQ. Grills will be on, bring your own food, drink, and place settings. Family and friends are welcome. A recap of the week and awards are presented following dinner.
What to Wear:
-Swimsuit on your first day
-Lightweight, quick-drying shorts, shirt. Avoid cotton.
-Waterproof sandals (not water shoes or flip flops) preferably with a closed toe
-Sunscreen
What to Pack:
-Well-fitting life jacket
-Change of clothing
-Towel
-Sweatshirt/pants
-Sunscreen
-Sunglasses
-Rain gear
-Hat
-Water bottle
-Sack lunch/money for the snack bar
-Helmets will be provided and required
Inclement Weather:
Our goal is to sail every day for the duration of camp, however, as we all know, mountain weather is unpredictable. The safety of our students is always the top priority and if conditions are not safe for sailing, instructors will pivot to on-land lessons, games, and entertainment.
