The Grand Lake Sailing Foundation would like to offer scholarships to fund individuals interested in furthering their sailing education for instruction certification and adaptive sailing instructor certification. There will be ten scholarships available to individuals in the Grand Lake Community between the ages of 16 and 21 for Small Boat Instructor and three scholarships for the US Sailing Adaptive Sailing Instructor Workshop:
US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Program Level 1.
Course Description: The US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor Course is designed to provide sailing instructors with information on teaching more safely, effectively, and creatively. The program's goal is to produce highly qualified instructors, thereby reducing risk exposure for sailing programs. Topics covered in the course include classroom and on-the-water teaching techniques, risk management, safety issues, lesson planning, creative activities, ethical concerns, and sports physiology and psychology.

US Sailing Adaptive Sailing Instructor Workshop
Course Description: The Adaptive Sailing Instructor Workshop covers all aspects of creating and managing an adaptive sailing program. Topics Include facility requirements, disability types/populations, breaking down barriers to participation, safety requirements, volunteer/staff training, and a detailed overview of correctly adapting your equipment (or what equipment is available to purchase). In a heavily interactive course, attendees will go through various exercises to help them better understand what’s required to teach sailors with disabilities, including; physical, intellectual, vision impairments, autism, etc.
